I am honored to serve the students, staff, parents and community of Cadillac as Superintendent of Cadillac Area Public Schools. When I moved to Cadillac to begin my career as a junior high English teacher, I quickly fell in love with the people in this community. Throughout my career at CAPS, I have had the opportunity to serve children as a teacher, coach, adviser, assistant principal, and superintendent. My three children attend Cadillac Area Public Schools and are fortunate to have amazing educators and opportunities that will shape their future. I believe that ALL kids can learn and deserve to be challenged and supported. I am proud to be a part of the Viking tradition of excellence!

When I am not at school I enjoy spending time with my wife and 3 children, usually in a gym or ball field of some sort.

"Education has the power to change the world," as famously stated by Nelson Mandela. I've been fortunate to have served students at Cadillac Area Public Schools for the past 25 years and I am honored to currently be serving as the principal at Mackinaw Trai Middle School. My wife and I are grateful to CAPS for providing a dynamic educational experience for our three children.

My journey in education has included various roles such as teacher, elementary principal, and coach. My passion for education runs deep, as I am constantly seeking ways to engage, support, and inspire our students and staff. Witnessing the academic, social, and emotional growth of our middle school students is truly amazing. It brings me immense joy to work alongside such a remarkable group of young individuals, their families, and our dedicated staff.

I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to join forces to create a fantastic year ahead at Mackinaw Trail Middle School.

Salutations! My name is Chas Ferrell and I can’t tell you how excited I am for the opportunity to be the Assistant Principal at Cadillac High School! I grew up in Flint, Michigan before leaving to pursue higher education at Central Michigan University. At CMU I earned a Bachelor's degree in Education with a Social Studies major. I started my career as a Social Studies teacher and football coach in Farwell, and during that tenure earned a Masters degree in Business, Management, and Technology in Education from Ball State University. From there, I then accepted the opportunity as the Clare Adult Education Coordinator and Alternative Education Teacher. During this assignment, I completed my Masters in Educational Leadership through the American College of Education. My hobbies are competitive bowling and football. To close, I am beyond excited for the opportunity to work with students, parents, staff and the Cadillac community to help everyone reach their full potential. Go Vikings!

I have been the Athletic Director for Cadillac Schools since 2017.  I previously served as Athletic Director in Newberry, Michigan for eight years and also coached basketball, football and track teams there.  As Athletic Director I am commitment to students, parents and the greater Cadillac community.

I am a firm believer that all students deserve the opportunity to become a stronger, more fit individuals and it is my goal to provide that positive and successful experience for the student athletes at CAPS. I believe that athletics is an extension of the classroom and when those two venues are combined, it will ensure that we hold students to a high standard of character, accountability and pride.

I am really enjoying being in Cadillac with my wife Heather and our daughters.
